Design

The status of this vehicle is clear instantly, due to its imposing, chrome, vertical-vaned front grille. On the side, you will see ‘A’ badges and the bright machined spokes of the 21” wheels, with grey-painted pockets between them for extra visual depth.

Inside the car, the sense of luxury only grows, thanks to a full leather interior. The fluted upholstery can be commissioned in any colour from Bentley’s hide range, thanks to the inclusion of the Colour Specification as standard. It can also be optionally upgraded to Bentley’s luxurious Harmony Diamond Quilting.

‘A’ emblems are displayed on the treadplates, the seats and the fascia, which is finished in open-pore Crown Cut Walnut. The open-pore finish uses less lacquer than traditional high gloss, which makes it a sustainable choice – a design decision also seen elsewhere in the cabin, with recycled Nylon carpets and a wool mix used for the deep-pile overmats.

The incredible standard of interior design is about more than traditional craftsmanship, however. Even the graphics in the driver’s instrument panel have been designed to suit the car’s luxurious status in mind – yet another demonstration of Bentley’s incredible attention to detail.

Performance

The Bentayga EWB A is powered by an advanced 4.0 litre V8 engine. It is capable of producing 542 bhp (550 PS) – enough to propel you from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds) and on to 180 mph (290 km/h)*.

The vehicle also comes with Bentley Dynamic Ride, an electronic anti-roll system that offers greater stability when cornering, without sacrificing comfort when driving in a straight line. It also includes all-wheel steering, which makes low-speed manoeuvres much easier and lane changes at speed much smoother.

Technology

Despite its size, the Bentayga A is easy to drive, thanks to a number of useful driver assistance systems, including parking asset. It can even help you park while you stand and watch, using the My Bentley smartphone app. Other manoeuvres are made easy thanks to the Manoeuvre Assist feature, which can alert you to potential collisions with nearby objects and even brake for you if necessary to prevent you from hitting or scraping against something. 3D Surround View provides a 360° display of your surroundings, as seen from above or from any of the four cameras situated around the vehicle. The Bentayga EWB A can even take control of the steering when you need to reverse with a trailer attached, thanks to a feature called Trailer Assist.

A smart air conditioning system filters out harmful particles and continuously monitors air quality inside and outside the car, so it can bring in fresh air from outside if it is clean enough and recirculate the air inside if not – when you are in a tunnel, for example.

Among the car’s many technological innovations are two features that benefit passengers in the rear seats: Postural Adjust and Seat Auto Climate. Postural Adjust helps to prevent stiffness and fatigue setting in on long journeys by constantly varying the pressure in air pockets situated just below the seat surface, like a massage you will barely notice. Seat Auto Climate uses sensors to measure the humidity and temperature at the surface, allowing the seat’s heating and ventilation functions to react accordingly, to maximise comfort throughout.

Personalisation

The process of personalising your Bentayga EWB A often begins with your choice of exterior colour. There are seven standard colours to choose from – but that is just the beginning. Bentley’s extended range offers many more, as does the Mulliner Paint range, which includes premium satin and pearlescent options, and the striking new Topaz Blue. With duo-tone options, there are around 60 exterior finishes you can choose from.

Inside, alongside your choice of hide and carpet colours, you can opt for contrast stitching to add extra flair. You can upgrade the fluted upholstery to Bentley’s Harmony Diamond Quilting and even opt to add Bentley Diamond Illumination, which allows LED lights to shine through tiny perforations in the leather, to dramatic effect.

As well as the standard Open Pore Crown Cut Walnut veneers, there are three more options you can choose at no extra cost: Open Pore Burr Walnut, Open Pore Koa and High Gloss Crown Cut Walnut. You can also choose from a much wider range of optional veneers, that include several more wood species, technical finishes such as carbon fibre and special painted finishes such as the stunning Piano Linen by Mulliner.
